INFORMATION TO THE PROJECT GRANT APPLICANT

Continuous Project Grant Call

Adventurous Ideas Oy supports non-profit initiatives that promote animal rights and nature conservation in Finland. Project grant applications are submitted via an electronic grant platform.

Applications concerning both animal rights and nature conservation are submitted through the same application form. The form requests basic applicant information, a project description, planned actions and objectives, monitoring methods, a funding plan, and a detailed budget. Specific instructions for required attachments are provided within the system. You may review the full structure of the application form through the platform.

The Adventurous Ideas Oy project grant call remains open on a rolling basis. The application period begins on August 13, 2025. Project evaluations are carried out four times per year, with funding decisions published during end of 2025 and in February, May, August, and December 2026. Supported projects may be new, ongoing, or continuation projects. Funded activities may begin no earlier than four months after the application has been submitted.

Please note that all applications and their attachments must be submitted via the grant system. Applications sent through other channels will not be considered.

Questions regarding the application can be sent via the platform to the giving back team; technical issues should be directed to technical support.

Project Grant Criteria

Project grants are available to non-profit organizations with a valid Finnish Business ID (Y-tunnus) that have been operating for at least one year. Grants are directed at organizations registered in Finland.

Funding is awarded to projects that promote animal rights and/or nature conservation in Finland. Detailed information about the focus areas can be found in the section Focus Areas. Grants are not awarded for scientific, artistic, or cultural work, nor for projects outside Finland. General grants are also not awarded through the project grant call.

The maximum duration of a project is two years. Applications may be submitted for new, ongoing, or continuation projects. Grant payment is possible no earlier than four months after the application has been submitted.

The amount awarded per project can range from €1,000 to €50,000. Overhead costs may account for no more than 20% of the total project budget. A self-financing share is not required. However, if the project includes self-financing or other external funding, this must be clearly stated in the application.

Collaborative projects with for-profit entities or other ineligible actors are allowed, but funding may only be used to cover the eligible organization’s own costs and activities. In other words, the grant cannot be used to cover the costs of a project partner who does not meet the eligibility requirements.

Project Grant Evaluation Criteria

Project proposals are assessed by the giving back team at Adventurous Ideas Oy and by appointed experts designated for project grant evaluation.

Applications are evaluated based on the following criteria, depending on the nature of the project:

Applicant Expertise and Project Feasibility
We assess the applicant’s experience and subject-matter expertise. Prior accomplishments strengthen the application, but new or less established actors may also receive funding. In such cases, the other evaluation criteria carry more weight. Special attention is given to the coherence of the project’s goals, actions, and timeline, as well as to the efficient use of resources.

Project Relevance and Impact
We evaluate how effectively the project promotes animal rights or nature conservation relative to its scale. Emphasis is also placed on potential long-term impact and the project's ability to reach its intended target audience.

Alignment with the Giving Back Strategy of Adventurous Ideas Oy
We assess how well the project aligns with the focus areas and strategic goals of Adventurous Ideas Oy’s giving back activities. We also consider the project’s level of innovation and its potential to generate new impactful solutions.
